چکیده

Coloured plasticine was used for making 3D anatomical and embryological plates with the aim of presenting an alternative method in teaching veterinary anatomy. Many selected anatomical illustrations representing muscles of the thoracic and pelvic limb of the horse, head muscles of the horse, ox, sheep and camel, some embryology diagrams including sperm structure, types of ova and cleavage were used in this presentation. Moreover, the skulls of horse, sheep and dog were also used for shaping some of the facial and masticatory muscles. In the introduction, light was shed on the common methods of teaching veterinary anatomy such as computer software, plastination, prosection, freeze drying, willed body donation program, the use of haptic simulator and CDs for sonographic, MRI and CT as well as radiographic images. Some of these methods were discussed from both the students and teachers points of view.

Determination of Load and Strain-Stress Distributions in Hot Closed Die Forging Using the Plasticine Modeling Technique

An axisymmetric hot closed die-forging process has been studied by physical modeling technique using the plasticine. To observe the material flow pattern, layers of plasticine with different colors were used. The normal direction to the layers was considered a principal direction. The strain distribution was obtained by measuring the thickness of the plasticine layers. Based on the strain distr...

Using Surface Anatomy in Teaching The Anatomy of Upper Limb Vessels to Students of Allied Health Sciences

Introduction: Despite the abundant studies on teaching anatomy using cadaver, a few studies have documented the use of surface anatomy. Also, the majority of articles concerning human anatomy teaching have focused on medical student education and less attention has been paid to teaching anatomy to students of allied health sciences. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effect of teach...

Practical knowledge and occupational competence

The work-oriented change in the didactics of vocational education (VET) identifies ‘significant’ vocational work situations and the associated work process knowledge as the pivotal factor in the design of vocational curricula and processes. What is dramatic about this change of perspective is not merely the departure from academic, discipline-based teaching methods, but also the formulation of ...

Modelling material transfer in metal rolling using plasticine

Plasticine strips are rolled between cylindrical rollers to model the phenomenon of material transfer in metal rolling. Strips of thin plastic film ‘clingfilm’) on the plasticine strip are used to model the oxide layer that covers the surface of aluminium. The effect of gaps opening up between he clingfilm strips is investigated. It is found that the percentage area of the exposed strip giving ...
